Let’s get serious about having a little fun. Gather up some friends and family and try out some of these playful ideas.
How’s Your…? Choose one person from the group to be "it" and send them from the room. The other players decide on a subject that completes the sentence, "How's your…?" This could be anything from "your body" to "your mother" to "your bank account". Once a subject is agreed upon, the "it" person returns and begins asking each player, in turn, "How's Yours?" Players give their answers, while trying not to be too descriptive or obvious, so as to not give away the subject too early. Once the "it" player figures out the answer, it's another player's turn to be "it." Be creative with your answers and get a lot of laughs.
The Name Game Everyone receives five to ten strips of paper and a pen. Then each player writes down one famous person's name (or the name of a person everyone in the group knows) on each strip of paper. Players fold their strips of paper and put them in a bowl. Then everyone divides into teams of two and decides who will describe the name on the paper and who will guess. Once the timer starts, the first player grabs a piece of paper from the bowl and describes the person written on the paper without using any part of the name. For example, for Donald Duck, one might say, "He has a squeaky voice and he hangs out with Mickey Mouse". However, the players cannot use the words "Donald" or "Duck" in the description. Each team gets 30 seconds to guess as many names as possible. Whichever team guesses the most names by the time the bowl is empty, wins.
Liar Liar Ask each guest to take a slip of paper and write three things about themselves that no one in the room knows. Two of the statements should be true, and one statement should be a lie. Put the papers in a bowl and have someone read the three statements on each paper aloud. Everyone guesses which guest has written the statements and which statement is the lie. For example: I’ve been to Boston, I don’t like cheese, and I invented the rotary engine. Think you can guess the lie? (It’s the cheese thing, of course.)
Guess Who? On slips of paper, write down the name of a famous person, character or celebrity. When guests arrive, place a name on their back, securing with tape or safety pin and without the guest seeing his or her own name. Each player can ask other guests only yes or no questions about their identity until they can figure out who they are supposed to be.
